In basketball statistics, Offensive Efficiency Rating (OER) is the average amount of points scored by a basketball player per shot taken. This includes missed field goals as well as free throws.

 


Efficiency Ratings
A good way to show your team how effective they are being on offense and defense is with efficiency ratings. For your offensive efficiency, take the number of points you score and divide by the number of possessions you had.

(Note: 40 minutes is used in the calculation for the WNBA.) PER Player Efficiency Rating (available since the 1951-52 season); PER is a rating developed by ESPN.com columnist John Hollinger.

Only after the mechanics are learned, revert to game condition drill to gain efficiency in developing the whole. Never allow carelessness.

Because of their efficiency, multi-joint movements such as bench presses, squats, dead lifts, and chin-ups should be used exclusively during in-season strength sessions.

If you score at your normal efficiency (50% on field goals and 33% on three point attempts) then you're simply matching the one point per possession your opponent is making when you foul. There's no way around it - rallies are based on scary math.
