Frontcourt: The half court area where the offense accumulates points.
Baseline: Line that defines out-of-bounds at either end of the court under each basket.
Sideline: The boundary marking out-of-bounds on each side of the court.

 


Frontcourt: The offensive half of the court for a team.
Full-court press: Defensive tactic which consist in starting guarding the offense in the backcourt.
Game clock: Shows how much time remains in the game.

Backcourt and Frontcourt - The names for the half-court areas in which the two teams play defense and offense respectively. One team's frontcourt is the opposing team's backcourt.

a. A team's frontcourt consists of that part of the court between its endline and the nearer edge of the midcourt line, including the basket and inbounds part of the backboard.

downcourt or down the court: the direction a team on offense moves, from its backcourt into its frontcourt and towards its own basket.

The opposite of the frontcourt. (2) A team's guards. backcourt violation (1) Touching the ball in the backcourt after it has entered the frontcourt and was not last touched by the other team.

8 (or 10) Second Violation Once a team gains control of the ball in the backcourt, it has either 8 or 10 seconds (as specified below) to proceed to the frontcourt (i.e. the ball gains frontcourt status).
FIBA: 8 seconds.

Backcourt Violation: time is up, if after 10 seconds, a player does not move the ball from the back to frontcourt.
Backdoor Play: player moving up behind the defense and open to a pass.

We prefer to see crossover moves in front of the body so vision of the frontcourt is constant. If necessary, a retreat dribble with a crossover is just a quick and preferable to a reverse dribble.

If there is no offensive player in frontcourt, move up to mid-court opposite ball position. Teammate #4 should be covering on that side to deny a pass over the front line into the mid-court area.

Players are teamed up comprised of a backcourt and frontcourt player. All of the front court players enter the paint. Their teamates line up behind the first cone. The first player shoots, if they make it they advance to the next cone.

I like to use this close to the halfcourt line.We attack as soon as the ballhandler hits the midcourt line.We basically do the same stuff as in the others,the backcourt,and the midcourt.

Ball in Backcourt: If the offensive team takes the ball into the frontcourt and then the ball goes back into the backcourt the offense will lose the ball.

The ball is considered in the front court only when the offensive player with the ball has both feet over the center line. So, if a teammate is already in the frontcourt(both feet and the ball over half court) and passes to a teammate who is not yet ...

The area between the end line furthest from the offense’s goal and the “Mid Court Line'. As opposed to “Frontcourt'.
Ball Handler
The player in control of the ball. At the beginning of the play, this would usually be the point guard.

On the hit 2 screens for 1 to get open in the backcourt, then receives a screen from 3 to get open in the frontcourt.

8-second rule
When a player has the ball in their own half or 'backcourt', they have eight seconds to move the ball over the half way line into the 'frontcourt'. Otherwise they will lose possession.

As possession alternates between teams, the teams run to opposite ends of the court. When a team's players are on offense, they are said to be in their frontcourt. If the team's players are on defense, they are in their backcourt.
