A full-court press takes a great deal of effort, but can be an effective tactic. Often when teams are behind late in a game, they will apply full-court pressure as a means of attempting to produce turnovers as well as tire opponents.

 


The full-court pressure defense is a man-to-man full-court defense. Instead of using the phrase, "we are going to press this team", I tell my players "we are going to pressure this team." A full-court zone press often implies trapping, gambling.

full-court press: when defenders start guarding the offense in the backcourt. game clock: shows how much time remains in each of the four 12-minute quarters of an NBA game or two 20-minute halves of a college game.

After a score, they get into what amounts to a full-court 1-2-2 full-court press. They have the center on the ball and normally full-front all opponents, daring them to throw over the top.

When using the full-court press, the object is to force ball-handling errors prior to getting the ball into position to pass into the big center.
