We hope the kids will use the half court offense to obtain good shots and not get caught up in the pattern running from point A to point B. The play is not the purpose - getting a good shot is the purpose.
Half court offenses should start when all players are down court. Hardly. Half court offense, if there is such a thing as half court offense, starts immediately when your team gets the ball.
