This is a great drill to teach an offensive player how to use their body and create space within a small area.
In the paint - being in the foul lane area which is painted a different color.
In the power zone - in the €œkey€ area, so named because this area of the floor is painted.
Points in the paint: Points scored inside the painted (restricted) area.
Points: The sum of the value of scored baskets (free throw, 2 points, 3 points).

3 people line up in the paint. The first one is #1, the second is #2 and the third is #3. Put one person on the top of the arch and one outside the 3-point line down in the corner and another in the same position on the other side if the 3-point line.
The guy in the paint is the shooter. he goes to the first ball, grabs it, and shoots, he then goes to the other ball and does the same thing. The guys underneath hands the guys on the first block the ball while that guys replaces it.
Have one partner stand with one foot in the paint while the other partner stands along the 3 point line facing his partner. The perimeter players spaced evenly around the perimeter. have perimeter players begin passing the ball around.
This shot is used mainly by post players close to the basket, near the blocks or in the paint. The post player receives the ball inside with his/her back to the basket.
One way to generate points in the paint is to pass the ball inside to post players. Every point in the paint makes your opponent less aggressive and creates freethrow shooting opportunities for your team.
Even though it is so physical in the paint, even in high school, you must be extremely aggressive to get in there and rebound. Whenever you are blocked out by your defensive man, keep moving around and try for a better position.

Three Second Rule: When your team is on offense you can't be in the Lane or the Paint for more than 3 seconds. If you stay in the paint for more than 3 seconds your team loses the ball.
Though this defense is somewhat weaker than the 2-3 in the post (because it only has two in the paint, instead of three), it is considerably more successful in shutting down the other team's shooters.
