Mikan Drill

The Mikan Drill is a basketball drill commonly credited to George Mikan and Ray Meyer. It is designed to help basketball centers and forwards develop rhythm, timing for rebounding, and scoring in the paint.

 


The Mikan Drill is a layup/hookshot drill performed underneath the basket.
Instructions:
First, a right hand hook is taken (on the right side), upon gathering the rebound a left hook is taken. REPEAT, and try to beat your own number of makes.

Mikan Drill
Named after the first real big man in the NBA, George Mikan. Start on the right side of the basket, while standing within layup range, go off of two feet and shoot a right handed layup.

The mikan drill is a timed drill that last 30 seconds. This is a good big man drill, though everyone can benefit from this drill.

Mikan Drill
Named after the first real big man in the NBA, George Mikan. From beneath the basket, make a layup with the right hand, grab the ball out of the net and make a layup with the left hand.

Do this drill right under the basket. Become familiar with how the ball comes off the backboard, and at different angles. Start by standing right under the basket.

Mikan Drill - An all-time favorite named after the legendary center. The player stands under the rim and proceeds to alternate jump hook shots from both sides of the basket. This drill helps player use both left and right hand.
