Offensive Rebounding
In order to get an offensive rebound, you must get the inside position on your defender, who is trying to box you out. You must outquick him, or make some kind of move to get that inside position.

Offensive rebound: When a player grabs his/her own or a team-mate's missed shot attempt.
Officials: A Referee and an Umpire assisted by Table Officials (a Timekeeper, a Scorer, an Assistant Scorer and a 24 second Operator).

Offensive rebound: Rebound by a player of the team in possession of the ball.
Officials: The referees who rule the game, stop and start play, and impose penalties for violations and fouls.

Offensive Rebound - A rebound by a player on offense.
Officials - Also called referees, they're in charge of controlling the game.
Off the Dribble - A shot taken while driving to the basket.

Offensive rebound - a rebound of a team's own missed shot.
Officials - the crew chief, referee and umpire who control the game, stop and start play, and impose penalties for violations and fouls.

Ideal Offensive Rebounding Positions
The diagram on the left shows the ideal position when using the "shallow safety" and the "deep safety" are used. The "triangle rebounders", #3, #4, and #5 form a triangle, surrounding the basket.

A putback describes a situation where a player secures an offensive rebound then immediately scores a basket.

Do you have a tall kid who gets a bunch of offensive rebounds and just can't seem to put the ball back into the hoop. Try this drill. Two people at a basket a shooter about foul line and the other kid in front of the hoop.
