Overplaying leaves openings that an offensive team can attack and take advantage of if they play with poise, confidence and have advanced knowledge.

To overplay the ball, X1's head is on the ball handler's top shoulder, and her stance is open (heel-toe) towards the sideline, bent-knee "nose to chest", and at arm's length.

GO2 - 2v2 overplay - Offense must stay inside the 3 point line, 20 seconds to complete 8 passes or make a lay up or draw a foul. Losers out, winners to offense.

Backdoor cut when overplayed. When your defender has a foot and hand in the passing lane to deny you from catching the ball, change direction and cut behind the defender toward the basket with your lead hand up.

This technique is good to use when you're being overplayed. It helps you change direction quickly.

Anytime you're being overplayed, you should take your man back door. The player being denied the pass should take one more step toward the ball and then plant a foot and cut hard to the basket.

Use - the defense is overplaying the perimeter passing lanes... Communication - say a pre-arrange "key" word to signal the team about the 'Back Door Cut'...

Sometimes the Pistons would overplay Jordan to keep the ball from him. Sometimes they would play him straight up, more often they would run a double-team at him as soon as he touched the ball to try to force him to give it up.

If you are using a man-for-man defense, assign your best defensive player to the star and make sure the defensive player overplays and denies passes to the star.

Make 2 equal teams.
