Person-to-Person defenses match up the defenders against specific offensive players. Defenders are usually assigned to be matched up with offensive players by size and ability.

Against a person-to-person defense, he can call the plays by number. One or two short passes, this offense will usually get your team a good shot at the basket, either a high percentage medium jump shot or a shot from the low post area.
Zones are easier to learn than person-to-person defense. Some coaches and players think that players just shift around in zones taking up space, not covering offensive players individually. Not so.
