Scoring opportunity: when a player gets open for a shot that is likely to score.
Screen or screener: the offensive player who stands between a teammate and a defender to gives his teammate the chance to take an open shot.

Screen or Screener -- An offensive player who obstructs a defender from guarding a teammate to give him or her a better chance to get “Open' and score ...

This is the first scoring opportunity. A one-on-one opportunity for the feeder (5) to drive to the basket.

The First Screen.

The fast break is very effective against zone defenses providing your players push the ball up-court quickly enough to get a scoring opportunity before the zone has time to organize.

This offense favors a ball-control, intelligent team who has the patience to wait for a good scoring opportunity to develop. The shuffle may take some time to teach as each player must learn all five positions and the various options.

The premise between the two plays is the same: a ballhandler uses a teammate's pick to attract the attention of two defensive players to free his teammate for a scoring opportunity.

Prior to every scoring opportunity, with the exception of the rare follow-up tip, securing the ball cleanly is required.

This drill if done appropriately will get you the perfect scoring opportunity.

This forces the player to keep his/her head up and see the floor at all times, thus improving his/her ability to see an open man, scoring opportunity, etc.
try scrimmaging without dribbling, everything is a pass.
