Screeners only need to do these things: A) establish a position behind Player A's defender, but about a third to one side. The screen (or pick) must have a bias, left or right. B) Stand still. Do not run up and crash into the defender.

Instructions
Put a big trash can 25 feet or inside there, and twist arund the can and shoot off a screen.
3. Down-screen
The screener sets the screen usually down low for a player near the block, and is usually facing the basket with his back to the ball. When completing the "roll" move, he/she pivots facing the ball.
2) Cross Screen
The cross Screen is used when an offensive player moves laterally to set a screen for a teammate in the post area.
The screener positions himself with his back to the basket on the same side of the court as the cutter. The cutter positions himself outside of and above the screener. "Outside" implies that the cutter is closer to the sideline than the screener.
A good screen is a matter of angles and timing. It can be set anywhere on the floor. Once you have played the game for a while, and you know how to screen, you will start to do it naturally.
Screen: Move in which a player positions his body to impede a defender and free a teammate. Also called a pick.
Steal: To take possession of the ball from an offensive player who is holding, dribbling, or passing the ball.

A: First of all, illegal screening is not a violation, it is a foul (yes, a technical point, but violations and fouls have different penalties and implications). If I understand your statement correctly, you have got it right.
When faced with a ball screen, do you force the ball to or away from the screen? When playing cutters, do you allow them to come through or do you try to force them to take a different route?
