If short corner player is unavailable, the high post may be. If we get the ball here, the defense is in a world of trouble! On a pass to high post, 4 should look for own shot, check for 5 cutting to basket, or 2 on the weak side wing.
Short Corner Post Drills Sometimes it's hard to get open on the low block (e.g. vs a 2-3 zone defense), or your post defender is taller than you, or is a good shot blocker, and you can't effectively score inside.

Short Corner: Attacking the "Short Corner", or baseline area behind the defense outside the lane, against a 2-3 zone puts the defense in rotation and opens up the mid post.
The low post, #2, who is waiting to screen for the first cutter, steps out to the short corner (see Diagram 143). #1 passes to #2 and breaks to the high post position. At the same time, #3 leaves the high post, and sets a back pick on #5's defender.
On your whistle, the half-court player will sprint to one of the baskets short corners, (baseline). He will then receive a pass from the player under that basket with the ball. He is going to receive the pass and take a jumpshot.
the 2 breaks to the far side low block,the 1 breaks down to the short corner,and the 3 cuts up to the top of circle as a safety.The 5 may have to take a step in ,but the pass should be thrown to arrive at the 5 when he/she does.
