Basketball ZoneZone defence

Zone and One zone pressure defense
When you face a team that has built its offense around one player, the zone -and -one zone pressure defense can solve your problem of stopping that high-scoring star player.

The zone adjusts as 4 posts strong side to occupy 3 and 5.

2 has the ball on the wing.

Play a tight zone as if you need to stop some big post player or a team that can't shoot outside. Don't deny passes and get steals in the half-court either. Play a tight defense, demand a block out, and rebound--then WALK IT UP! ...

These various zone attacks are choreographed in the animated diagram.
"Corners 52"
Here is a set play you can run vs the 2-3 zone. See the diagrams below. Note that we start in our 4-out "Corners" offense.

Step by Step: 2-3 zone animation

This defense is the strongest zone against outside shooting teams and has been used more than other zones with the advent of the 3 point shot. It provides excellent fast-break opportunities, especially if the two inside defenders are good rebounders.

Sag: A tactic in which a defender leaves their man or zone and drops into the lane to help protect the basket.
Sagging man-to-man defense: A conservative defense in which the defenders stay between their man and the basket.

Defenders get good practice at a zone and helping one another out.
Variations:
With 10 or 12 players you just add to the offense and defense - making it 3 on 4, or 4 on 5 etc.

Coaching Tip
When defending an out of bounds play, go to a 2-3 zone and STAY PUT! Don't match up man-to-man! Most plays are designed for easy layups, not 15 foot jump shots.

I have used this too,but don`t score much with it.But you can get the ball in good with it.Use against m2m or zone and have players break the way you want to.

Sprint back on defense and pick the ball up at the 28-foot line. Everyone else is inside the three-point line protecting the power zone and communicating to their teammates who they are going to guard on defense by talking and pointing at ...

The defense is not allowed to play zone and must guard players on the ball side. The help side defenders must play 1 and 1/2 offensive players, this teaches good help side coverage.

The object of defense is to try to take the ball away from your person or person in your assigned zone area, to force them to turn over the ball, or force them to take a low percentage shot.

Zones are named with numbers based on what pattern they form when looking at them from the top of the key. The keys to breaking a zone are: a) good outside shooting, b) fast, accurate passing, c) backdoor plays, and d) creating miss-matches.
