Acetonitrile (methyl cyanide) - an extremely toxic chemical found in many artificial nail removers. Its use should be avoided, especially by pregnant women.
Nail polish is easily removed by nail polish remover, which is a solvent (usually acetone, sometimes acetonitrile) and often recognized by its characteristic industrial aroma. Other components may include scents and coloring.
