ALCOHOL : Organic compounds that have a vast range of forms and uses in cosmetics. In some benign forms they are glycols used as humectants and help deliver ingredients into skin.

 


Alcohol: Alcohol is an organic chemical compound (organic ingredients). Alcohols differ substantially in their properties ranging from clear liquids to waxy solids.

Alcohol-free is better.
Hardly. When people see 'alcohol' on a label, they usually think of isopropyl, or rubbing alcohol which imparts a cooling, drying sensation to the skin. This however couldn't be further from the truth.

Alcohol is used as a fixative perfume ingredient. Alcohol is used to help the perfume evaporate from your skin after application. While the alcohol dries the skin, it does not remove the scent from the body. There is also a fixative in perfumes.

Alcohol-free deodorants
Alcohol has antiseptic properties and is also an ingredient in perfume. Avoid using alcohol deodorants if you have sensitive skin, because they can irritate the skin.

Alcohol SD-40
A high grade purified cosmetic alcohol. Evaporates instantly, so it is used as a vehicle to transport important ingredients to the skin's surface and then leave them there; gentler to the skin than ethyl (rubbing) alcohol.

Alcohol, SD (SD alcohol) - denatured ethyl alcohols found in hair and skin care products like astringents and toners. Because they can be drying to the hair and
skin, people with sensitive skin should avoid using them.

Alcohol (Ethanol) = Produced by the fermentation of starch or other carbohydrate source. Used as a solvent for extracts and various ingredients. It has a refreshing, astringent effect that promotes circulation.

Alcohol and Mouthwash
There have been past studies that established a link between the use of mouthwash that contains alcohol and increased rates of oral and oropharyngeal cancers (cancers of the mouth and throat).

Alcohol Free. It means that the product you are holding does not contain ethyl alcohol, although other types of alcohol may be present.

SD alcohol

Cetyl Alcohol
A solid fatty alcohol used as an emollient and emulsion stabilizer that gives skin a velvety feel.

Cetyl Alcohol: Derived from coconut and palm oils. This is not a drying alcohol. Used as an emollient and to protect skin from moisture loss.
Chalk (Natural): Gives a smooth feeling.

Cetyl Alcohol :
Not an "alcohol" in the sense of a rubbing alcohol, etc. It's actual used as an emollient & emulsifier, derived from coconut oil or may be synthetically produced.

SD 40 Alcohol: Used primarily in hair spray as a resin solvent.
Sea Salt: Useful exfoliant in body scrubs; helps soften and soothe the body.

Cetyl alcohol - An emollient and secondary emulsifier, cetyl alcohol is derived from naturally occurring fatty acids from coconut oil.
Chamomile - An emollient, this plant extract has soothing and calming properties for tender skin.

SD 40 Alcohol : Used primarily in hair spray as a resin solvent.

CETYL ALCOHOL: Used as an emulsifier and thickener in lotions.
CHAMOMILE/CAMOMILE: Healing, extremely soothing, moisturizing, and toning to the skin, especially dry skin conditions. Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and antiseptic.

CETYL ALCOHOL: Used as an emulsifier and thickener in lotions. Even thought this sounds like an alcohol it really isn't. It's a wax like substance made by combining fatty alcohols from natural sources.

Look for alcohol-free formulations such as Oxy Spot Treatment or Clearasil Daily Acne Control Vanishing Acne Cream. If you've never used a benzoyl peroxide formula before, then start with a low concentration of 2.

BENZYL ALCOHOL: A clear colorless liquid with antiseptic and antibacterial properties listed in the alcohol family. If we use any alcohol of any kind in our formulas it is a very limited amount and can be found at the bottom of the ingredients.

Batyl Alcohol - A humectant derived from glycerin that helps draw moisture to the skin. (It is not related to rubbing alcohol, which is drying.)

If you don't feel like discussing this particular issue with your girlfriend, then try using rubbing alcohol. As opposed to what the name suggests, don't actually rub it into your skin.
