Homemade Astringents, Tighteners & Toners
1) Here is how you can make a toner at home. For quickly refreshing your skin, grate a cucumber. Then use a wash cloth and apply the cucumber juice to your face. Cucumber juice is a natural astringent.

Astringent: Toner helpful in controlling surface oils and in lowering the pH after cleansing.

In astringents and hair build-up removers, look for natural citrus acids rather than chemical acids or alcohols. Citrus acids are gentler and contain their own replenishing oils, while chemicals and alcohol strip away all of your skin's natural oil.

Mild astringents like witch hazel can be helpful for a daytime freshener. However, astringents provide a temporary fix and can make the problem worse if overused. Blotting papers are less drying.

Red Raspberry Leaves: Leaves of the red raspberry, rubus idaeus. Astringent.
Retinyl Paimitate: Vitamin A. Useful in cosmetics as a skin normalizer. Works to moisturize dry skin and reduce excess oil.

5 drops of essential lavender oil (this regulates sebum) ...

6. For dry skin it is necessary to apply glycerine with a cotton wool swab before using foundation. If the skin is oily, use astringent lotion mixed with rose water or two drops lemon juice.
