The next stronger one will be the BHA's. (Beta-hydroxy acid) Having the same effect as the but Alpha Hydroxy acids come from a different sources. They can be made from salicylic acid, wintergreen, benzoic acid, or buteric acid.

 


BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids): A group of acids, often found in flowering plants and herbs. Most common is salicylic acid, believed to dissolve dead skin cells to leave a smooth, even surface.

BHA- Also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid, used for its exfoliating purposes. It is lipophilic, or known for its abilities to dissolve oil. The most common BHA is salicylic acid.

AHAs & BHA
As far back as Cleopatra, alpha hydroxy acids have been used in skin care. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is a blanket term for a variety of fruit acids including Glycolic, Citric, Lactic, Malic and Tartaric.

BHA which is a derivitive of aspirin is often used in skin care products to accelerate skin cell turnover and help clear pores. It can penetrate more deeply than AHA and is more gentle. Those with sensitive skin might want to try this product.

Aspirin contains BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) which is a powerful defoliant and great at helping unclog pores and clear blemishes. It's recommended that you use the Aspirin mask / scrub once a week to get rid of pimples and acne pimple scars.

Salicylic Acid (BHA)
Powerful ingredient prescribed by doctors and skincare professionals for treatment of acne, ingrown hairs, and dandruff. Also used to combat the effects of aging on the skin.

Salicylic Acid (BHA)
Occurs naturally in wintergreen leaves, sweet birch, and select plants. This BHA improves the appearance and condition of the skin.

Exfoliant - the process of removing the damaged outer layers of skin is usually performed by alpha or beta hydroxy acids (AHAs & BHA's).

Aspirin Mask - Aspirin contains a very effective defoliant known as BHA or beta hydroxyl acid, which this can assist in unclogging your pores and evening out pimples/blemishes.

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)
A Paraben/ Synthetic Preservative. Toxic, causes allergic reactions and skin rashes. They are absorbed into the bloodstream and disrupt the hormonal system. They may be associated with breast cancer.

Apply your active treatment (a gentle antioxidant cream if you have sensitive skin, or a retinoid or AHA/BHA if your skin is more tolerant).

This should include daily exfoliation in the shower, using either a grainy scrub or foot file; application of an AHA or BHA foot lotion, preferably twice a day; and weekly moisturizing masks to infuse dry skin with hydration.
