What Are "Cosmeceuticals?"
Some products can be both cosmetics and drugs. Such products have two uses. For example, a shampoo is a cosmetic because it's used to clean the hair.
Cosmeceutical - Used by the cosmetics industry to refer to cosmetic products that have medicinal or drug-like benefits. This term is not recognized by the FDA.
Cosmeceuticals - Products formulated to improve the skin's health and appearance, they may also have positive physiological effects on the skin on a cellular level (antioxidants, for example).
