Dermabrasion is a more invasive procedure involving an actual mechanical scraping of the top layers of the skin, and going deeper below the surface. It requires an anesthetic to block pain.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is literally a superficial sanding of the skin, resulting in exfoliation of thickened epidermis and results in a smoother more even appearing skin texture and tone.

Note: Microdermabrasion is less harsh and gives an identical result but with fewer side-effects. 3 to 4 sessions, with a 3-week gap between, can treat the whole face over a gradual period. It costs around £50 to £100 per session.
