Essential oil - essential oils are the concentrated vital essences of aromatic plants. Some are cleansing, others are soothing and calming, and still others are astringent.

ESSENTIAL OILS: The oily liquid obtained from plants through a variety of processes. It usually has the taste and smell of the original plant.

Essential oils: Plant extracts that contain numerous benefits when applied to the skin, including: killing bacteria, soothing inflammation, disinfecting the skin, reducing redness and possibly firming and toning the skin.

The essential oil added as fragrance in products of many companies can also cause irritation. Though this essential oil is advertised as beneficial, the real truth can be the exact opposite.

Geraniol

Citral Is a naturally occurring component of essential oils, such as Lemon Oil, Orange Oil, Lemon-Grass Oil and Bergamot Oil.

The Solution: Essential oils
Wash your hair with a shampoo that contains such essential oils as jojoba and peppermint like Malin+Goetz's Peppermint Hair Shampoo ($20 for 8 oz, Malin + Goetz).

Essential oils are beneficial for all hair types. They keep the hair in good condition
Apply a little shampoo on the head; rub well with tips of your fingers.
Wash with shampoo two times a week.
An oil massage should be done once in a week.

You can use plain water or add a drop or so of your favorite essential oil and then mist away. This is especially important to those with dry or maturing skin.

Although we are talking of fresh lemons here, lemon essential oil has the same properties and they can be used interchangeably. Let's take a quick look at some of its potential uses.

Traditionally, only essential oils have been considered able to absorb through the skin and penetrate as deep as the bloodstream.

(Manuka Oil) Essential oil from New Zealand, similar to tea tree oil, with antifungal and antibacterial properties. Extremely skin-friendly with a much more pleasant fragrance than tea tree oil.

1. Mix about six tablespoons of essential oil or oil with sugar. This mixture is your scrub. (Note that lemon juice can be used in place of oil, but you will want to avoid this if you have any open cuts, due to the acidity of the lemon).

Fill a foot bath with warm water and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Lavender relieves itch, so it can help soothe itchy dry feet, allowing them to heal and be soft again.
