The procedure for removing the muscles that cause the frown lines is called a "glabellar myectomy" because it removes a portion of the glabellar muscles, which are the muscles that make the frown; a myectomy is the removal of muscle tissue.

The most common areas for Restylane treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the wing of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, but other sites can also be treated.

Gel - Jelly like material formed by the coagulation of a liquid. Semi-solid emulsion that liquefies when applied to the skin.

In April 2002, Botox gained FDA approval for treatment of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows -- called glabellar lines. However, Botox is often used for other areas of the face as well.
