Skin is made up of three main layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis (see picture). The epidermis is the only layer we can see with our eyes and as we age, remarkable changes occur which are hidden from our view.

The skin is made up of 3 main layers: Epidermis, Dermis and Subcutaneous or hypodermis. These layers are held together by the protein, collagen and elastin fibres. Collagen provides durability and strength.

The skin is composed of three components - subcutaneous skin, derm and hypodermis. The disease-also of skin called cutaneous disease-is very common in the erythematosus of lupus (it). Only the common pain (arthritis) is more common.
