Keratinocyte: Epidermal skin cell that makes Keratin and eventually undergoes differentiation to become a dead, flattened cell of the stratum corneum.
Keratitis: Inflammation of the cornea of the eye.

The main kind of cells that make up the epidermis are keratinocytes, melanocytes, Langerhans cells and Merkels cells. The epidermis have 5 layers Stratum basale ,stratum spinosum ,stratum granulosum, stratum licidum and stratum corneum.

Retinoids decrease the cohesiveness of abnormal hyper-proliferative keratinocytes and may reduce the potential for malignant degeneration and consequently reduce the risk of skin cancer in patients who have undergone renal transplantation.

The epidermis also hosts different types of cells: keratinocytes, melanocytes and Langerhans cells. Keratinocytes produce the protein known as keratin, the main component of the epidermis. Melanocytes produce your skin pigment, known as melanin.

The Melanin that the melanocytes make finds its way into the keratinocytes (the cells containing the keratin) as they make their way up to the surface. The melanocytes produce more melanin when we are exposed to the sun. The result of this is a tan.

The type and amount of melanin synthesized by the melanocyte and its distribution pattern in the surrounding keratinocytes determines the actual color of the skin.

Levisticum Officinale (Loveage) Oil:

Antioxidant, rich in Vitamin E, non-greasy emollient ...

Typically found in soaps, shampoos and some topical acne medications. Normalizes keratinization, prevents the exfoliated keratinocytes from sticking together, thus helping to eradicate existing comedones and preventing the formation of new ones ...

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common form of skin cancer. It arises from the cells that make the protective keratin of the epidermis (keratinocytes).

Targets of the effects of copper on the skin:Keratinocyte: it plays a part in the synthesis of keratin, by oxidation of the sulfhydril groups.
