Causes of Keratosis Pilaris
The main cause of Keratosis Pilaris is thought to be the increase in proteins such as keratin. Why the protein increases and begins to cause problems has yet to be discovered.

Actinic Keratosis Symptom, Appearance and risk factors -
Actinic keratoses are small and noticeable red, brown, or skin-colored patches that don't go away.

Actinic keratosis is the most common sun-related growth. An estimated 60% of individuals older than 40 years who are predisposed have at least one actinic keratosis or solar keratosis.

Keratosis Pilaris. A very common genetic follicular condition that is manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin and is often referred to as "chicken skin". It most often appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms.

Keratosis pilaris: A harmless but frustrating skin condition that affects up to 50 percent of the population.

ACTENIC KERATOSIS
Pre-cancerous growth that may occur because of repeated sun damage.
ADENOMA SEBACEUM
Small tumor of translucent appearance, originating in the sebaceous gland.

Actinic keratosis- Small, rough reddish patches on the skin. Often sharp to the touch. Most common in fair-skinned people, these may become skin cancer if not removed.

Keratosis: A skin lesion that is abnormally sensitive to the effects of ultraviolet light (sunlight). Usually a discreet slightly raised, red or pink lesion located on a sun-exposed surface. Texture may appear as rough, gritty or scaly.

Pre-cancerous (actinic keratosis) and cancerous (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma) skin lesions - caused by loss of the skin's immune function

If you're fair-skinned and over 50, you have an increased chance of developing actinic keratosis - rough scaly patches on sun-exposed skin.
