Mineral Oil: A clear, odorless oil derived from petroleum that is widely used in cosmetics because it is inexpensive and rarely causes allergic reactions. It can, however, induce acne lesions.

 


Mineral Oil - A refined synthetic petroleum based oil. Widely used in commercial cosmetics. Mineral oil creates a barrier and interferes with the skins normal functions. A poor choice for skin care preparations.

Mineral Oil: A liquid blend of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum. An effective solvent for removing oil, grease and make-up from the skin. An excellent amplifier or intensifier allowing the skin to absorb ultraviolet rays more effectively.

Mineral Oil and Petrolatum
The main lubricant in most creams are liquid paraffin, propylene or mineral oil. These are by products from petrol refinery that are 'dumped' in huge quantities in the cosmetic industry.

Mineral Oil: A petroleum-based ingredient used in skincare products and makeup for more than a century. It creates a barrier wall to prevent water loss from skin, and has a moisturizing effect.

Personally I hate products with mineral oil, excess amounts of cheap artificial fragrances and fillers such as talc. But there is also good quality makeup and it does need to be expensive.

Unlike mineral oil, natural oils are low on the grease factor, so they won't clog pores and cause damage to your skin.

Octyl Palmitate: An emollient amplifying ester commonly used as a mineral oil replacement.
Octyl Salicylate: An antiseptic and sunburn preventative.
Octyl Stearate: Provides a barrier between skin and the elements; softens and smoothes the skin.

Petroleum: Mixture of hydrocarbons with similar properties as mineral oil. Industrially it is used as a grease component.
PG Inhibitor: A PGE inhibitor like aspirin usually intended to lessen joint inflammation and uterine spasms.

The most important thing to remember when purchasing hair care products is not to purchase any that contain mineral oil or petrolatum oil. These ingredients will suffocate your hair and block moisture from coming out that you hair desperately needs.

"The high-quality, plant-based oils in these new products won't cause clogged pores and breakouts like mineral oils do," says Jeannette Graf, M.D., a dermatologist in Great Neck, New York.

Petrochemicals
Petroleum derivatives such as petrolatum, mineral oil, paraffin, and propylene glycol that are commonly used in beauty products, particularly in lip balm and gloss.

Mineral oil is cheap and said to moisturize, but it can irritate the skin. Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, also has moisturizing properties.

* Don't use baby or mineral oil. These are not soaked by skin properly.
* Don't keep essential oils in sunlight or light. Keep vegetable oils in freeze.
* Put Vitamin E in oil every month. It does not spoils the oil.

You need to deal with it gently and effectively. Never use products on your skin that contain oils or synthetic wax on your irritated skin it will only make it worse. Avoid mineral oil as this will clog your pores. Treat your skin with great care.

Sweet Almond Oil :
Natural nut oil high in fatty acids, absorbed easily through skin than mineral oil.

Whey (A): residue from milk after the removal of the casein and most of the fat. By-product of cheese making.
