Pore: Small opening of the sweat glands of the skin.
Psoriasis: A chronic disease of the skin consisting of itchy, dry, red patches, usually affecting the scalp or arms and legs. It may be treated with OTC or prescription medications.

Pore
Openings in the skin (epidermis) through which sweat glands secrete perspiration and sebaceous glands secrete oil. Each type of gland uses a different pore.

You can shrink a pore.
The size of your pores is genetically determined. Cosmetic companies are making many millions by convincing women they can be shrunk. Once you reach puberty, the pores become their adult size.

Acne occurs when the oil glands produce excess sebum, the skin's own oil, which accumulates with dead skin cells to form a plug which results in a clogged skin pore.

You should use moisturizers that are non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging). For individuals with oily skin, the use of products that clog pores may lead to increased oil production.

Blackheads - A blackhead occurs when a pore opens to the surface, and the sebum, which contains the skin pigment melanin, oxidizes and turns a brown/black color. It isn't dirt and can not be washed away.

Application of esthetic techniques may include, but is not limited to, facial steaming, exfoliation, waxing, pore cleansing, extraction, and chemical peels.

Follicle - A pore in the skin from which a hair grows.
Follicle sheath - Protects the hair during its growth stage.

A good one is Lancome Pure Focus Deep Pore Refining Scrub. You can also use a salicylic acid cleanser like Bliss Clog Dissolving Cleansing Milk. These chemical products clean out pores better than scrubs.

Wash it with a mild cleanser (Recommended product: Sothys Desquacreme - Deep Pore Cleanser), once in the morning and once in the evening and after heavy exercise. It is also important that you thoroughly rinse your skin after washing it.

Generally, skin type correlates with pore size. To determine your own skin type, wash your face and wait 30 minutes. Then put a single piece of tissue paper against each area of your face: forehead, nose, chin, cheeks.

This is a potentially pore clogging and irritating ingredient. Avoid skin care products with this ingredient if you have acne prone or sensitive skin.

Blackheads are formed when oil and dead cells get trapped in a pore. They then turn black when exposed to air. When blackheads become inflamed, they become red (pimples). They multiply when touched with dirty hands.

Little white cysts or bumps under the skin. Unlike whiteheads, these have no pore opening and cannot be squeezed out.

I mix two types of foundation, Perfectly Real and Skin Smoother Pore Minimising foundation, mixing to get the shade right for the skin (when the model has a light tan for example).

Try a mild chemical exfoliant cleanser with pore-cleaning salicylic or glycolic acid daily like Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream ($16.50 for 3.5 oz, Clinique) rather than harsher physical exfoliants like the ones that feel gritty.

Vernacular's Mild Facial Cleansing Oil and Light Hydrating fluid both have oils in them, but are described as non-pore clogging and non-comedogenic (won't promote blackheads).

This is a good moisturising facepack. It can be used regularly on dry or dull skin. The oatmeal is soothing and adds a scrubby texture that will help remove dead skin and any pore blockages.

It's also wise to give yourself a quick rinse after using any hair products, since some sprays, gels and mousses contain pore-clogging ingredients.

Since a blackhead is a primary acne lesion, so immediately start the treatement of blackheads. Controlling the formation of blackheads is one way of preventing and treating acne. So, if you have blackheads, without acne, you need deep pore cleansing.
