Seborrheic Dermatitis may result from a reaction to yeast (malassezia), especially in areas of the skin rich in sebum. Individuals with Seborrheic Dermatitis seem to be very sensitive to yeast.
Seborrheic dermatitis. This type involves a red, scaly, dry-appearing itchy rash on various areas of the body, particularly those areas that contain many oil glands.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a rash that appears in patches of redness and scaling around the eyebrows, eyelids, mouth, nose, the trunk, and behind the ears. If it happens on your scalp, it is called dandruff in adults and cradle cap in infants.
Seborrheic dermatitis appears on sebum-rich areas of the scalp, face, and trunk. Sebum production begins at puberty, triggered by circulating DHT (the activated testosterone metabolite).

Seborrheic Dermatitis: Common inflammatory condition of the skin that most often affects the scalp and face (areas above the neck), however, the armpits, and groin, buttocks and skin folds underneath the breasts can also be affected.
If you have large size flakes together with symptoms around your nose, eyebrows, ears, around your navel or genitals, it may be due to seborrheic dermatitis or seborrhea. Severe dandruff may be the result of psoriasis of the scalp.
A biotin deficiency can lead to dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis and the formation of dandruff and crusts in the scalp. Biotin is vital for the maintenance of a normal fat metabolism, and is essential for hair growth and scalp health.
