Solvent Extraction - A method of separating oils from their base using a liquid in which the oil is soluble. The oil is then distilled and the solvent is evaporated leaving the oil.

 


Solvent: Liquid substance able to dissolve or disperse other substances.
Somatic: A term that means related to the body (soma), as opposed to the mind (psyche).
Soothing: Reducing skin discomforts from irritation, blemishes, burning skin, etc.

Acetone - a solvent used in nail polish, nail polish removers, and astringents that can cause nausea, ear, nose, and throat irritation, and dermatitis.

Acetone
Strong solvent used in nail polish remover. Appropriate only for natural nails. Contained in some astringents/toners/fresheners.

Benzyl Alcohol: Solvent with a faint, sweet odor. Used in many perfumes.
Bioecolia - Natural sugar complex that inhibits the growth of unfavorable bacteria.

Used as a solvent in some formulations.
