Vetiver: An essential oil derived from an African tree root and traditionally used to make mats and rugs. Vetiver has an earthy, smoky scent and may be an additive in perfumes.

Vetiveria zizanoides. Soothing essential oil used in cosmetics for its smoky, earthy scent. Due to its sedative properties, in India it is known as "oil of tranquility."
