Autogamy
Self-fertilization (also known as autogamy) occurs in hermaphroditic organisms where the two gametes fused in fertilization come from the same individual. They are bound and all the cells merge to form one new gamete.

Autogamy
Transfer of pollen (pollination) from the anther of a flower to the stigma of the same flower or sometimes to that of a genetically identical flower (as of the same plant or clone).

autogamy Condition in which the gametic nuclei produced by meiosis fuse within the same organism that produced them to restore the diploid number.
autoimmunity Immune response to ones' own proteins or other antigens.

Cf. autogamy.
