What is Bioremediation?
Remediation is the restoration of contaminated land, air or water from a contaminated state.

Increasing the activity of bacteria that decompose pollutants; a technique used in bioremediation. Biodiversity. The wide diversity and interrelatedness of earth organisms based on genetic and environmental factors. Bioenrichment.

[Another] aspect of Deinococcus that has been of particular interest to the Department of Energy, is what's called "bioremediation.

Naturally present bacteria are utilized by the mining industry in bioleaching. Biotechnology is also used to recycle, treat waste, clean up sites contaminated by industrial activities (bioremediation), and produce biological weapons.
