CAPS Cleaved Amplified Polymorphisms (CAPS) markers are a type of PCR based marker. In this method, genomic DNA is amplified by PCR using specific sets of primers complementary to a given region.

Cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS)
A technique for detecting polymorphisms at a particular locus. Following PCR amplification of a locus, polymorphisms are detected by differences in restriction fragment sizes between individuals.
