Biology CoalescenceCoat protein

Coalescence theory: The evolutionary theory that estimates the time for divergence from the last common ancestor.
Coding sequence (cds): The portion of a gene that is transcribed into mRNA and translated into protein.

By use of coalescence theory to interpret modern haplotype genealogy, we estimate the origin of the CCR5-Delta32-containing ancestral haplotype to be approximately 700 years ago, with an estimated range of 275-1,875 years.
