Coelom
[Gr. koilomatos - a hollow]. A body cavity lined by mesoderm. It is usually formed through either enterocoelic pouching (in Deuterostomes) or by schizocoely (in Protostomes).

coelom -- Fluid-filled cavity within the body of an animal; usually refers to a cavity lined with specialized tissue peritoneum in which the gut is suspended.

coelom In animals, a body cavity between the body wall and the digestive system that forms during preadult development.
coelomates Animals that have a coelom or body cavity lined with mesoderm.

coelom
(see-lome) [Gk. koilos, a hollow]
A body cavity completely lined with mesoderm.

coelom
The main body cavity, which is lined with mesoderm, and found in annelids, molluscs, arthropods, echinoderms, and chordates.
Covered in:
collateral
a minor side branch of a blood vessel or nerve.

Coelomata (Cnidaria): A phylum in the Animal Kingdom. They are invertebrate aquatic animals showing radial or biradial symmetry. Examples are corals, sea anemones, jelly fish. See also Cnidaria in the Shape of Life (PBS).

pseudocoelom In nematodes, a closed þuid-containing cavity that acts as a hydrostatic skeleton to maintain body shape, circulate nutrients, and hold the major body organs.

Coelom arises by splitting of mesoderm
Coelom arises between invaginating mesoderm during gastrulation
Lophotrochozoans and Ecdysozoans ...

coelomoduct A duct that carries gametes or excretory products (or both) from the coelom to the exterior.
coelozoic Living in the lumen of a hollow organ, such as the intestine.
