Biology ConservationConspecific

Conserved sequence: A base sequence in a DNA molecule (or an amino acid sequence in a protein) that has remained essentially unchanged throughout evolution.
Contig: Group of clones representing overlapping regions of a genome.

Conserved sequence
A nucleotide or protein sequence which is shared between different regions or organisms, ...

A conserved sequence 25 to 30 base pairs upstream from the site for transcription in many but not all genes; binding site for general factors involved in initiation of transcription. In prokaryotes the analogous is called Pribnow box.

The ubiquitin protein itself is 76 amino acids long and was named due to its ubiquitous nature, as it has a highly conserved sequence and is found in all known eukaryotic organisms.
