Cytosol From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search ...
Cytosol (SYE-tuh-sol) The semi-fluid portion of the cytoplasm, excluding the organelles. The cytosol is a concentrated solution of proteins, salts, and other molecules. See cytoplasm.
Cytosol: The cytosol is the "soup" within which all the other cell organelles reside and where most of the cellular metabolism occurs.
Cytosol Cytotoxic T cell (Date:3/28/2011)... have completed the first human randomized controlled trial ... uses a catheter-based probe inserted into the renal ... nerves near the kidneys (or in the renal ...
cytosol - contents of the main compartment of the cytoplasm, excluding membrane-bounded organelles such as endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria.
The cytosol of animal cells contains a concentration of potassium ions (K+) as much as 20 times higher than that in the extracellular fluid.
Cytoplasm - collective term for cytosol and all the organelles contained in it (outside the nucleus and within the plasma membrane) ...
eNOS is present in membrane caveolae and the cytosol and requires tetrahydrobiopterin, NADPH, FAD and FMN as additional cofactors for its activity.
In prokaryotic cells, the Krebs Cycle enzymes are in the cytosol. Two more ATPs are formed as pyruvate is oxidized to carbon dioxide.
Consequently, the organelles must import the proteins they need to make copies of themselves from the surrounding cytosol.
The cytosol in a cell does more than just suspend the organelles. It uses its dissolved enzymes to break down all of those larger molecules. The products can then be used by the organelles of the cell.
Cells have a watery medium called cytosol that contains the necessary factors for their survival.
Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm (cytosol) and does not require oxygen. There are ten steps in glycolysis and each one is catalyzed by a specific enzyme. A brief summary of these reactions is presented here.
Compare: protoplasm, cytosol. See also: cell. Please contribute to this project, if you have more information about this term feel free to edit this page ...
Clathrin A protein that coats the cytosolic side of coated pits and can form a lattice around the pit, excising it from the membrane to form a coated vesicle.
glycolysis The conversion of glucose to pyruvic acid (pyruvate) with the release of some energy in the form of ATP. Occurs in the cytosol; literally "sugar splitting." glycoprotein A protein with attached sugars.
furiosus lysates have been identified using peptide mass searches, membrane and cytosolic proteins from P. furiosus have been compared, and quantitative changes in M. jannaschii proteins under several different growth conditions have been analyzed.
