Biology DNA virusDomain

DNase
An enzyme that degrades DNA.
dNTP
Deoxynucleotide triphosphates used in the synthesis of DNA -- deoxy-ATP, deoxy-TTP, deoxy-GTP, or deoxy-CTP.

DNase (deoxyribonuclease). See Nuclease.
Dominant. An allele is said to be dominant if it expresses its phenotype even in the presence of a recessive allele. See Allele, Phenotype, Recessive.

DNase - see DEOXYRIBONUCLEASE.
DOT BLOT - DNA or RNA is simply spotted onto nitrocellulose or nylon membranes, denatured and hybridized with a probe.

DNase: Deoxyribonuclease, a class of enzymes which digest DNA. The most common is DNase I, an endonuclease which digests both single and double-stranded DNA.

The major proportion of total genomic satellite DNA remains attached to the nuclear matrix (NM) after DNase1 and high salt treatment.

A procedure for making a DNA probe in which a DNA fragment is treated with DNase to produce single-stranded nicks, followed by incorporation of radioactive nucleotides from the nicked sites by DNA polymerase I.

They also discovered that protein-digesting enzymes (proteases) and RNA-digesting enzymes (RNAse) did not affect transformation, so the transforming substance was not a protein or RNA. Digestion with DNase did inhibit transformation, ...

Hypersensitive sites Regions of the chromosome that are especially sensitive to digestion by exogenous dnases; such regions are usually located at the 5' end of actively transcribed genes.
