Eosinophils

Biology EnzymesEpidemiology

Eosinophils primarily deal with parasitic infections and an increase in them may indicate such. Eosinophils are also the predominant inflammatory cells in allergic reactions.

eosinophils
activating many of these recruited cells to produce their own mediators of inflammation.
I shall not attempt to catalog all the players, but here are some of the major (and best understood) ones.

These materials cause fluid to leak from the capillaries and white cells () including neutrophils, T cells and eosinophils to leave the circulation. The end result is a "local inflammatory response", a red, itchy welt.

granulocytes White blood cells (neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils) bearing "granules" (vacuoles) in their cytoplasm that stain deeply.

Based on the presence or absence of visible granules within the cellular cytoplasm
Granulocytes / presence of granules / neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils
Agranulocytes / absence of granules / monocytes and lymphocytes
Lymphocytes (6-18µm) ...
