Exocytosis

Exocytosis
Exocytosis is the reverse of endocytosis.
And that is just as well. In 30 minutes an active cell like a macrophage (right) can endocytose an amount of plasma membrane equal to its complete plasma membrane.

Exocytosis (EK-so-sye-TOE-sis) A process cells use to send substances outside their surface membrane via vesicles.

exocytosis The process in which a membrane-enclosed vesicle ?rst fuses with the plasma membrane and then opens and releases its contents to the outside.

Exocytosis
Exocytosis moves material to the outside. A vesicle fuses with the plasma membrane and discharges its contents outside. This allows cells to secrete molecules.

Exocytosis
Vesicle is formed in the cytoplasm //May form from an edge of the Golgi apparatus
Moves towards plasma membrane and fuses with plasma membrane
Contents are pushed outside cell
Insulin is secreted from cells in this way ...

exocytosis The process by which substances are moved out of a cell; the substances are transported in the cytoplasmic vesicles, the surrounding membrane of which merges with the plasma membrane in such a way that the substances are dumped outside.

And that is a sign that exocytosis has happened. You can also see that not all vesicles fuse when calcium comes in. Vesicles have to have been sitting there for a while, and we can tell now how long that time is. It's about a third of a second.

The basic mechanism of endocytosis is the reverse of what occurs during exocytosis or cellular secretion.

Hormones and other signaling molecules may exit the sending cell by exocytosis or other means of membrane transport. The sending cell is typically of a specialized type.

These vesicles are released by the cell by a process known as exocytosis. Material can come into the cell by the reverse of this process, called endocytosis.

Vesicles and vacuoles that fuse with the cell membrane may be utilized to release or transport chemicals out of the cell or to allow them to enter a cell. Exocytosis is the term applied when transport is out of the cell.
