Biology ExpressivityExtended phenotype

Most extant orders of insects developed during the Permian era that began around 270 million years ago.

The class Merostomata contains the extinct "sea scorpions" (or eurypterids) and the extant (living) horseshoe crabs. Eurypterids are extinct, but were important elements of faunas 200-500 million years ago during the Paleozoic Era.

There are 6000 species of echinoderms; all extant species are marine. The phylum Echinodermata includes the sea urchins, sea stars, sea cucumbers, and starfish. Most adults have radial symmetry, while their larvae are bilaterally symmetrical.

Extracellular endosymbionts are also represented in all 5 extant classes of Echinodermata (Crinoidea, Ophiuroidea, Asteroidea, Echinoidea, and Holothuroidea).

The sequence of the fossil and two extant species of magnolia are given along with one other plant species. The fossil magnolia, given the species name Magnolia latahensis, yielded a sequence similar, but distinct from the extant species of magnolia.

Speakers presented work on characterizing extant haplotypes and developing maps describing typical distances up to which allelic variants can be expected to be in linkage disequilibrium.

Eubacteria The most common form of extant prokaryotes.
Excinuclease uvrabc enzyme that removes thymidine dimers by hydrolyzing the damaged DNA strand at sites on either side of the dimer site.

Catarrhini: One of the two divisions (suborder) of Primates containing the old world monkeys and apes (extinct and extant). The other division is Platyrrhini (new world monkeys).

Hence, an official or public document; a register; a record; also, a catalogue; a list. The rolls of Parliament, the entry of the petitions, answers, and transactions in Parliament, are extant. (Sir M. Hale) The roll and list of that army doth remain.

Though laying eggs is a primitive reptilian trait, monotremes share many morphological, physiological, and reproductive characteristics with other mammals. Extant monotremes include the duck-billed platypus and echidna.
