Gene insertion. The addition of one or more copies of a normal gene into a defective chromosome. Gene linkage. The hereditary association of genes located on the same chromosome.
gene insertion The process by which one or more genes from one organism are incorporated into the genetic makeup of a second organism. gene pool A collection of all of the alleles of all of the genes in a population.
Gene therapy -- addition of a functional gene or group of genes to a cell by gene insertion to correct an hereditary disease.
Targeted Gene Insertion The early vectors used for gene insertion could, and did, place the gene (from one to 200 copies of it) anywhere in the genome.
Since most cancer-causing viruses are retroviruses, the virus may serve as a vector for oncogene insertion.
