Homeobox
A homeobox is a stretch of DNA sequence found in genes involved in the regulation of the development (morphogenesis) of animals, fungi and plants.

homeobox genes Pattern genes that establish the body plan and position of organs in response to gradients of regulatory molecules.
homeostasis The ability to maintain a relatively constant internal environment.

homeobox
A 180-nucleotide sequence within a homeotic gene encoding the part of the protein that binds to the DNA of the genes regulated by the protein.
homeosis ...

Homeobox: A short stretch of nucleotides whose base sequence is virtually identical in all the genes that contain it. It has been found in many organisms from fruit flies to human beings.

Homeobox
The color-shaded regions represent homeotic genes called Hox genes. The dark band within each gene represents a 180-base-pair region called the homeodomain.

with orthologs found in all vertebrates.

homeobox A highly conserved 180-base pair sequence found in regulatory sequences of protein-coding genes that regulate development.

Include a DNA sequence called the homeobox that is similar in all homeotic genes.
C.
Are altered in homeotic mutations such as antennapedia, causing abnormal development of the head.

Homeobox genes establish the body plan and position of organs in response to gradients of regulatory molecules.

(Science: molecular biology) Casual term for a dna sequence that is a characteristic feature of regions that bind regulatory proteins for example homeobox, tata box and caat box.
