Interstitial cells

Biology InterphaseIntestine

interstitial cells
(in-tur-stish-ul)
Cells scattered among the seminiferous tubules of the vertebrate testis that secrete testosterone and other androgens, the male sex hormones.
interstitial fluid ...

They are supported by loose connective tissue which contains here and there groups of "interstitial cells" containing yellow pigment granules. The total number of tubules is estimated by Lauth at 840, and the average length of each is 70 to 80 cm.

Testosterone is made in the interstitial cells that lie between the seminiferous tubules.
LH
Interstitial cells are, in turn, the targets for a hormone often called interstitial cell stimulating hormone (ICSH).

testosterone Male sex hormone secreted by the interstitial cells of the testes.
Tethys Sea A shallow sea that once separated the Eurasian and African sections of the supercontinent Pangaea. It eventually gave rise to the modern Mediterranean Sea.

Interstitial cells can produce an ovary or testis, and may assist regeneration. Gland cells secrete digestive juices into the gastrovascular cavity into which tentacles have stuffed captured prey.

Between the seminiferous tubules are special cells called Leydig cells (or "interstitial cells") where testosterone and other androgens are formed.
[edit] Blood supply and lymphatic drainage ...

(1) Interstitial Cell Stimulating Hormone ICSH → stimulates testosterone production by interstitial cells between seminiferous tubules
(2) FSH → stimulates egg-containing follicles in ovaries ...
