Left ventricle
(Science: anatomy) The muscular chamber of the heart which accepts blood from the left atrium and ejects it into the aorta to the systemic circulation.

Left Ventricle (ventriculus sinister)."The left ventricle is longer and more conical in shape than the right, and on transverse section its concavity presents an oval or nearly circular outline.

Pressure in the left ventricle becomes greater than pressure in the aorta, phase of ejection begins as semilunar valves open. Pressure in left ventricle and aorta rises to about 120 mm Hg when ejection begins and ventricular volume decreases ...

coronary sinus (great cardiac, left marginal, small cardiac, middle cardiac, posterior of the left ventricle, oblique of the left atrium) - anterior cardiac (right marginal) - pulmonary

Blood flows through the mitral valve (also known as the bicuspid valve) into the left ventricle.
Contraction of the ventricle closes the mitral valve and opens the aortic valve at the entrance to the aorta.

The volume of blood pumped per minute by the left ventricle of the heart.
cardiovascular system
[Gk. kardio, heart + L. vasculum, a small vessel]
A closed circulatory system with a heart and branching network of arteries, capilleries, and veins.

a membranous valve between the left auricle and left ventricle of the heart; it is also known as the bicuspid valve

[They are using] different strategies, like replacing the left ventricle rather than the full artificial heart. You don't get so much colonization. The strategies are getting better and better but the bacteria are winning most of these.

aorta The artery that carries blood from the left ventricle for distribution throughout the tissues of the body. The largest diameter and thickest walled artery in the body.

The aorta is the largest blood vessel in the body, originating from the left ventricle of the heart and bringing oxygenated blood to all parts of the body in the systemic circulation.

systemic circuit The portion of the circulatory system concerned with blood flow from the left ventricle of the heart to the entire body and back to the heart via the right atrium.

It is then pumped to your lungs via the right ventricle. In your lungs, your blood again fills up with oxygen, and returns to your heart. Your blood now enters the left atrium of your heart. It is then pumped out to your body via your left ventricle.
