Molecular mimicry Refers to a protein domain, such as those found in EF-G and release factor, that mimic the structure of a trna molecule.
The invading pathogen may express antigens that resemble "self" (called "molecular mimicry"). These activate T and B cells. When the infection is under control, these cells may now turn against self antigens.
