Northern blot
A technique for detecting specific RNA using a labeled DNA probe. RNA (e.g. total polyA RNA) is separated by electrophoresis in agarose gel and transferred onto a membrane.

Northern blot
(Science: molecular biology, procedure) An electroblotting method in which rNA is transferred to a filter and detected by hybridisation to (32)P labelled RNA or dNA.

Northern Blot
Northern blot is a laboratory technique used to detect a specific RNA sequence in a blood or tissue sample. The sample RNA molecules are separated by size using gel electrophoresis.

Northern Blot A procedure for measuring the approximate size and abundance of a specific transcript in a complex mixture of transcripts. Named by (humorous?) analogy with Southern blot which it greatly resembles.
