Nucleoli

Biology Nucleolar organizerNucleolus

Nucleoli are made of protein and ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences of chromosomes. The rDNA is a fundamental component since it serves as the template for transcription of the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) for inclusion in new ribosomes.

It is surrounded by a well-defined wall, the nuclear membrane; this encloses the nuclear substance (nuclear matrix), which is composed of a homogeneous material in which is usually embedded one or two nucleoli.

The exact number of nucleoli is fixed among members of the same species.

found chiefly in cytoplasm and nucleoli; may be involved in transmitting hereditary information from the nucleus to cytoplasm

At nuclear divisions, the nucleoli disappear in late prophase, are absent at metaphase and anaphase, and reappear during telophase.

nucleolus A deeply staining body within the nucleus of a cell and containing RNA; nucleoli are specialized portions of certain chromosomes that carry multiple copies of the information to synthesize ribosomal RNA.

The fluid contained within the nucleus of a eukaryote in which the chromosomes and nucleoli are found.

Chromosomes contain information encoded in DNA attached to proteins called histones and are usually arranged in to a dense network called chromatin. Nucleoli are granular structures which make ribonucleic DNA (rDNA) and assemble it with proteins.

nucleolus A round or oval body in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell; consists of DNA and RNA and produces ribosomal RNA (pl.: nucleoli). PICTURE ...

Ribonucleic acid, RNA, is formed in the nucleus using the DNA base sequence as a template. RNA moves out into the cytoplasm where it functions in the assembly of proteins. The nucleolus is an area of the nucleus (usually two nucleoli per nucleus) ...

The AB has some affinity to the keratins. In the mouse cell culture 3T3 line the staining is intranuclei, with fine dots forming chains surrounding dark areas, which do not correspond to the nucleoli.
