Pedigree
A pedigree is a genetic representation of a family tree that diagrams the inheritance of a trait or disease though several generations.

1. Construct a pedigree of your family or the family of a friend for a single inherited trait. It can be a normal human variation (e.g.

pedigree analysis A type of genetic analysis in which a trait is traced through several generations of a family to determine how the trait is inherited. The information is displayed in a pedigree chart using standard symbols.

Pedigrees
It is often easy to visualize relationships within an extended family by using symbols to represent people and relationships. A family tree which uses these symbols is called a pedigree. A sample pedigree is below.

Those reasons lead to difficulties in applying pedigree analysis, the study of family trees, to the Y. In fact, no gene on the Y chromosome has had its existence correctly inferred from the study of family trees.
