pleural
(Science: anatomy) Of or pertaining to the pleura or pleurae, or to the sides of the thorax.

pleurae -- In trilobites and other arthropods, pleurae are elongated flat outgrowths from each body segment, that overlie and protect the appendages.

pleural cavity The space between the sheets of pleura (one covering the inside of the thoracic cavity, the other covering the outside of the lungs).

pleura
The membrane that covers the lung and lines the innermost wall of the thorax.
poikilothermic
(Ectotherm) Any animal whose body temperature follows that of the surrounding environment.

pleura — the outer covering of the lungs and the inner lining of the thoracic (chest) cavity.
peritoneum — the outer covering of all the abdominal organs and the inner lining of the abdominal cavity.

pleura The membrane that lines each half of the thorax and covers the lungs.
pleurite Lateral sclerite of a somite in an arthropod.
plexus A network, especially of nerves or blood vessels.

The right pleural sac is shorter, wider, and reaches higher in the neck than the left.

[L. serum - whey]. 1) In histology, the term is used to mean a serous membrane such as the peritoneum, pleura, and pericardium. A serous membrane is composed of a layer of epithelium with a thin layer of connective tissue. Synonym: tunica serosa. 2) ...

Treatment of a spontaneous pneumothorax is dependant on the volume of air in the pleural space and the natural progression of the individual's condition. A small pneumothorax might resolve without active treatment in 1 to 2 weeks.

Pleurisy an infection in the pleural membranes lining the chest cavity
(pleura = the side‚ a rib)
Pneumonia an infection of the lungs by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae
(pneumo = lungs) ...

The lungs are large, lobed, paired organs in the chest (also known as the thoracic cavity). Thin sheets of epithelium (pleura) separate the inside of the chest cavity from the outer surface of the lungs.
