Anterior-posterior axis patterning in Drosophila
Morphogenesis of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster starts with the construction of asymmetries within the oocyte and proceeds to pattern formation along the embryonic axes.

Specifically, the posterior region is significantly larger and the anterior region is significantly smaller in the cabbies when compared with control subjects.

It begins with a "primitive streak" which establishes the anterior and posterior axes and the bilateral symmetry of the body. The neural tube forms from the union of two ridges on the top side.

A posteriori one must be left with a sufficient number of probes that have matched the target so that a tiling pattern of probes can be assembled to span the entire target.

The most posterior region of the brain of the developing embryo which is divided into the more anterior metencephalon and the more posterior myelencephalon. It later differentiates into the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, and pons (in mammals).
